I am addicted to denim
I am a collector of jeans
(ok maybe a hoarder of jeans)
Daisy Denim Designs came to life about ten years ago, after recycling two old pairs of my daughters jeans. I turned them into handbags and the girls loved them so much they took them everywhere. Soon I was making them for my daughters friends and for family members. That’s when I really started collecting jeans.
I now have a room full of denim that I recycle and reinvent into
homewares, bags, toys and clothing.
I love Denim and hate wasting a good pair of jeans especially if they can have another purpose.
For as long as I can remember, I have always sewed. First it was toys for my dog when I was young, then dresses and skirts while studying. When we moved into our house I made cushion covers, curtains and table runners.
Sewing has not only helped us save money, but has allowed me to fulfill a creative need. I am a wife and mother of three and always have some sort of project on the go. Multitasking between taking up hems of school uniforms, sewing something for the house, or creating a teddy or two.
There is usually a pair of sissors and a needle and thread lying aroung somewhere keeping a cold cup of tea company. Waiting for me to take up where I left off
My New Years Resolution was to make more time for myself.
After a stressful 2015, I decided that the new year would involve more ‘Me Time’ and more creativity. This year I would get back to sewing, something that seemed to be missing in 2015. Sure I did the odd hem or two, but no real sewing. You know; the stuff that is creative and theraputic, where you get a sense of accomplishment, and loose yourself in the details. The type of sewing that you just have to finish even if it is twelve at night and you have to work the next day. That is the type of sewing I want to do this year.
